The first year of business has been a rousing success at Dex in Floyd County’s BranwickCenter. Dex receives used heavy trucks from Volvo and Mack test centers and from Arrow Truck Sales. What were once hulking remnants of rust are fully reused, recycled, or remanufactured taking thousands of pounds out of the waste stream.
We take ‘end of life’ trucks, harvest as many parts as possible and sell them to dealers,” Isom extrapolates. “The Mack and Volvo engines are sent to the Mack remanufacturing center to be remanufactured.” What’s left, he adds, is then recycled. “Nothing is wasted, everything is used again.”
Isom was a Volvo employee for 30 years. He traveled all over the world for Volvo including assignments in China, Sweden and the United States. In 2006, he was a project manager for Dex and was then appointed manager of its Floyd operation when it opened in January 2007. The business made its first sale in February of last year.
he Dex warehouse in Floyd is the company’s only U.S. operation, though it has others in Australia and Brazil. Floyd is the only one selling used truck parts. In its first year of operation here, the firm took apart 100 trucks. It is capable of processing two trucks a day.

Even with a limited number of things to move, your car can be too small and it will take many trips to get all things to another place. Launching trucks9.com has been somewhat of an adventure, and although we have not covered even one percent of our grounds yet, things are moving rapidly. We have established ourselves on the Internet and are quickly becoming known in the business. Working advertising for trucks and trailers in the entire 50 states as our main source of revenue our company is doing well. Our entire sales team is excited and everyone is fighting for the top position as salesmen of the month. As we get out there more and more the name Trucks9 will grow synonymously with the word trucking.
There are a few common problems that many Truckers come across with the motorists.
1. Peek-a-boo! - Now you see them, now you don’t. This peek-a-boo game is very troublesome to truckers. Large trucks have several blind spots which make it hard for the drivers to see other motorists who like to hang out there. The best thing that you can do is either pass the truck or stay a comfortable distance behind them. When in doubt, check for the trucker’s side view mirrors. If you can see them, then chances are that they might be able to see you too.
2. Brake this habit – Many of us at one point or another gets stuck behind a large truck. So the most logical step would be to change the lanes to pass the truck away. No problems with that … the problem lies in a vehicle cutting back into the truck’s lane right in front of them, then braking for a turn or just slowing down, period. What most motorists don’t take into account is that truckers need a lot of space in order to slow down, at least two to three times the amount of passenger vehicles.
3. Teaching a lesson - Some drivers of passenger vehicles like to try and “teach” truckers a good lesson. Several times drivers think that the big Trucks and Trailers are either going too rapidly or slow. So they’ll speed up to pass the trucker and then get back in the trucker’s lane and slow down. Many parents tell their kids, “Worry about yourself,” and it would be smart for other motorists to heed that advice. Leave it to the troopers and policemen to enforce the laws of the road.
4. Back up and try again - In this day and age of technology, people are more accustomed to instant results and hate waiting for anything. Unfortunately, when big trucks have to back into a space, it may take a few tries to succeed. Motorists should appreciate the fact that these trucks are bigger than they are and let the truckers do their job. Patience can be a virtue!
By exercising a little of that common sense, many accidents involving Heavy Duty Trucks and Passenger vehicles could be avoided. That old adage, “It is better to be Safe than Sorry,” certainly applies here!

We want dealers to put up their trucks on our web site for free as of now. As a result of our database expanding new pages will be created on our site and more traffic will begin to flow into our web site. Revenues will be low in the truck advertising department; however, the increasing sales of every other department will do more than make up for the lost revenues and increased internet expenses. We are the biggest competition that other truck databases need to be worried about. We joined the trucking business to be #1 in advertising Trucks and Trailers and on facilitating Drivers with the tools they need to get their businesses up and running. What many users have told us about our company that makes our Truck advertising different from our competitors is our defined truck listing pages. While many companies are settling for putting only a couple of pictures for their trucks our company allows as many as 12 pictures of a single Truck to capture every angle and condition of the equipment for sale. This will cause our web site to represent equipment as best as possible. In the long run customers (users) and clients (dealers) will see that we do honest work and will in return build long lasting relationships with our company, and that is exactly what our company wants to happen.

Russia’s largest truck maker, KAMAZ said on Tuesday its 2007 revenues rose about 23 percent to 85.25 billion roubles ($3.51 billion) as truck sales volume increased by 20 percent. The company said in a statement it sold 52,648 trucks last year. It sold 39,187 vehicles domestically and exported 13,461 units, up 21 percent and 19 percent year-on-year, respectively.
KAMAZ, which produces nearly three quarters of Russian dump trucks and about half of the country’s other large cargo vehicles, said it exported every fourth truck it produced.
The company had forecast 2007 revenues of 85-87 billion roubles and net profit of at least 8 billion roubles. It had expected sales of around 53,000 trucks.
KAMAZ gave no figure for last year’s net profit. In 2006, its earnings rose by more than 50 percent to 4.1 billion roubles, while revenues amounted to 71 billion roubles.
The company’s Russia-listed stock was up 9.15 percent at 165.91 roubles by 1335 GMT.
The Detroit News welcomed Detroit auto show attendees to town this weekend with the headline “Car makers try to overcome gloom.”There’s plenty weighing on the industry, especially the U.S. auto makers, as they gather for what is officially called the North American International Auto Show. Forecasts are that U.S. sales are going to be down again this year from last year’s weak level, as both high gas prices and a weak housing market weigh on car buyers.
But while there’s plenty of trouble facing the industry, there are also signs of hope for U.S. auto makers, in the form of new labor deals, new management and new opportunities overseas.
“As bad as it is, it could be worse,” said Tom Libby, senior director of industry analysis for J.D. Power and Associates. “If you think about it, all three have taken big steps. None of them will have the strength they used to have in the near term. But they have some good new product in the pipeline and the drop in costs is going quicker than they anticipated.”
Still, Libby and other experts agree it’s going to be another tough year ahead for the industry in general but for the Detroit based automakers, in particular, as Ford Motor , General Motors and Chrysler LLC try to stem ongoing losses from their auto operations.
