Americans have fuel and the prices of fuel on their minds lately. Most Americans are afraid of what the pumps are going to be priced at when they wake up in the morning. Are they going to be able to afford to go to work, especially if there is a long commute? Many people are required to have a truck for their vehicles for the purpose of their jobs. If you fall into this category you are in luck. Chevy truck gas mileage is working on improvements.
The best way to improve your Chevy truck gas mileage is to keep your truck up to date on its maintenance. Every truck comes equipped with an owner’s manual. In this manual you will discover the proper way to care for your truck and the engine. There should be a schedule as to when you need to change the oil, change other engine fluids, and other maintenance checking. It is easy to do these tasks on your own, but if you are too busy to take the time out of your schedule to do these simple things you can always bring your truck to an auto body shop. Keeping your vehicle up-to-date not only improves the gas mileage, but it will keep your engine running smoothly which will prolong the life of the vehicle.
Accessories can be purchased to help increase the gas mileage of your used truck for sale. Bigger tires, louder exhaust, extra lights, and things that block the wind or use energy will not improve your gas mileage. The types of accessories that will help include tonneau covers, toppers, airflow tailgates, bug deflectors, and visors are all products that help deflect the wind and make it flow smoothly over the truck. When you purchased your truck it probably came with an open bed and a solid tailgate. This is perfect for catching the wind and creating your truck to drag. A tonneau cover will allow the wind to pass over the bed without causing any friction. A topper needs to be either level with the truck cab or it needs to have a slope at the front of it to allow the wind to pass over freely. Using an airflow tailgate is just that. The air can flow through it without creating any drag. The engine then doesn’t have to work as hard to keep the speed you desire. Since the engine isn’t working as hard you are able to in return experience better gas mileage.
If you have to pull a trailer behind your truck you will notice that your gas mileage decreases. Usually a trailer for sale is taller than the truck, and this blocks the wind, obviously. There are spoilers that you can install on the cab of your truck to help the wind go over the trailer and therefore it won’t put as much of a pull on the truck’s engine.
If you are actually in the market for purchasing a new truck and you want good Chevy truck gas mileage you need to take a few things into consideration. The transmission will make a difference in the gas mileage. Also having 2WD or 4WD will make a difference. Whatever is more powerful usually requires more fuel to run. Shop wisely and you’ll be sure to be satisfied with your Chevy truck for sale.

Isuzu is still in the pickup truck business, selling their version of the Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon compact pickup. Isuzu’s version is a likeable truck, though the model range is limited.
At the first glance, the Isuzu i-series is often perceived, not quite correctly, as a warmed-over General Motors product. While the i-series is more or less identical to the Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon, the fact is that Isuzu did have a hand in the truck’s development. The deal was that Chevy and GMC truck for sale would have first shot at selling the truck in North America while Isuzu would sell a slightly different diesel-powered version called the D-MAX in the Asia-Pacific region, which have been very marketable.
Isuzu started selling the i280 and i350 in the US in 2006, though sales were a fraction of those of the Colorado and Canyon. Part of the problem was lack of choice. The i-series came in just two versions: The four-cylinder manual-transmission extended-cab 4×2 i280 and the five-cylinder automatic crew-cab 4×4 i350. Chevy and GMC continued to sell their versions of the used truck for sale with a wide variety of cabs, bed, engine, transmission, and driveline combinations.
For this year, things have improved slightly. The four-cylinder Isuzu now offers an automatic transmission, while the five-cylinder model comes in both extended and crew cabs as well as with a 4×2 driveline, though the 4×4 is only available as a crew cab. Both trucks also get larger engines and new names: i290 and i370, reflecting their 2.9 and 3.7 liter engines.
There is no carpet and an AM/FM radio in the driver’s seat, though air conditioning and 4-wheel antilock brakes are part of the standard parts. The truck accessories, which contain cloth seats, carpets, rear jump seats, CD/MP3 player, floor mats, and tinted windows are worth $699 all in all. The automatic transmission is at $1,089 and the bottom line is at $19,500. It contains manual door locks and crank-up windows.
The i290’s extended cab has rear-opening doors on both sides for easier access to the second row, where there is are two fold-up jump seats with 3-point belts and LATCH child seat anchors. Like most compact pickup back seats, these are best suited for kids. Once seat are pulled up, one will find a handy plastic tool box that also flips forwards to provide flat load floor.
This year, the i-series offers side curtain airbags, a rare truck accessory in pickup trucks. They are optional on LS-model extended-cab Isuzus and standard equipment on the i370 with crew cab.
By far the high point of the i290 is its engine. At 2.9 liters, it is huge for a four-cylinder engine, and it shows in the numbers: 185 horsepower and 190 lb-ft of torque, the latter peaking at a usefully low 2800 RPM. Those numbers represent an increase of 10 hp and 5 lb-ft over last year’s 2.8 liter engine.
It would be easy to mistake the i290’s off-the-line performance for that of a six-cylinder truck. The truck loses some of its get-up-and-go at highway speeds, though passing acceleration (50 to 75 MPH) is adequate. The four-banger has enough torque to spin the rear wheels, even under moderate acceleration.
The i290 has a payload capacity of just over 1500 lbs, whose towing capacity is 2,100 with the manual and 3,100 with the automatic, more than enough to haul a small boat, a couple of ATVs, or a utility trailer for sale. Its bed width is 4′ 9″; bed length is 5′ for the crew cab and 6′ for the extended cab. Movable support cables allow the tailgate to be held half-way open and bear weight in this position.
The i290’s steering is light, good but not sporty. The ride is remarkably quiet at highway speeds. As mentioned earlier the i290 comes with standard antilock brakes but lacks advanced safety electronics such as electronic stability control, which is just starting to make their way into competitors’ products.

The customized pickup truck gets its share of oohs and aahs when it’s used by Glendale police for a drug-prevention program taught in schools.
The vehicle, a blue 2005 Chevrolet, has impressed other people as well, police said.
Last weekend, it captured a first-place award during the 39th annual World of Wheels car show held at University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale.
It won best-in-class honors in the category of conservative pickup, 1988 through 2005, said Officer Matt Barnett, a Glendale police spokesman.
The truck is used by police for DARE, or Drug Abuse Resistance Education, a program taught to fifth- and sixth-graders in about a dozen Glendale schools, Barnett said.
The vehicle, which is used to grab the attention of children, features loud stereos, custom paint and even a video-game station.
Children are attracted to the truck and eventually feel at ease about talking to the officer behind the wheel, Barnett said.
This helps to foster a good working relationship as police begin to talk to students about avoiding drugs and staying out of trouble, he added.

Japanese brands accounted for nearly half the models in Consumer Reports magazine’s roster of vehicles winning the highest praise from their owners.
Toyota Motor Corp. came out ahead, with 10 of the 39 vehicles whose owners said in overwhelming numbers that they would buy the same model again, according to the survey released today.
American brands accounted for seven, or fewer than 20 percent, of the models rated “most satisfying” by U.S. consumers. But domestic vehicles gained ground for the first time in five years in the important family car category, where the V6-powered Ford Fusion and Saturn Aura won high marks.
Other top-rated U.S. vehicles included the Chevrolet Corvette, the Lincoln MKZ, the V8-powered Ford Mustang and the Ford Edge sport utility vehicle.
“These latest results suggest that domestic carmakers are getting better at capturing what people want in the car they drive every day,” said Rik Paul, Consumer Reports’ automotive editor.
Domestic vehicles still fill the ranks of “least satisfying” models, but many of those, like the Ford Freestar minivan, are no longer in production or are getting old.
Consumer Reports compiled the results from the responses to the same subscriber survey that generates the magazine’s closely watched reliability ratings. The magazine said the responses covered more than 300 models.
The findings confirm the results of other polls, which show that while the Japanese are ahead in terms of pleasing consumers, others are narrowing the gap.
“There’s no question that the quality gap has narrowed” and that Detroit’s automakers also are producing more attractively styled cars now, said Christopher Chaney, vice president at the San Diego-based consulting firm Strategic Vision, which also conducts auto surveys.
Fun, reliability big factors
Consumer Reports said the Toyota Prius hybrid car was rated the most satisfying vehicle for the fourth year in a row, with 92 percent of Prius owners saying they would definitely buy one again. Close behind were the BMW 335i coupe/convertible and the Porsche Boxster.
European models accounted for 12 cars on the list — a slight increase from last year and a disproportionately high number, given their small U.S. market share of less than 10 percent. European nameplates dominated the sporty car and roadster categories.
Two South Korean models, Hyundai’s Azera sedan and Santa Fe SUV, made the list of “most satisfying” cars for the first time.
David Champion, director of vehicle testing at Consumer Reports, said the highest-rated vehicles tended to be fun to drive and reliable. “If you buy a car and it doesn’t give you any problems, you tend to be satisfied with it.”
Although performance is a big factor, fuel efficiency is also an important consideration now, Champion said. “Cars that get good fuel economy are also very high in terms of owner satisfaction.”
Consumer Reports rates vehicles “most satisfying” if at least 80 percent of owners say they would definitely buy or lease that model again. They are rated “least satisfying” if fewer than half the owners would buy that model again.
