18 Sep 08 Isuzu: A History Of Excellence

Companies, like people, seem to have a life of their own.

Each new product, each new decision adds to the evolution of a company, creating a legacy of quality or leading to its eventual downfall. Isuzu is one of those companies that have survived, learned its lessons, responded to market demands.

While Isuzu is now known for its high-quality Ascender and tough pickup trucks, it’s not surprising that 20 years ago, the company was already on the road to success. In 1988, Isuzu positioned itself as the number one truck maker (medium-duty trucks and heavy-duty trucks) in the world, surpassing Daimler-Benz. With such an incredible output of trucks, it was only a matter of time before the company began to focus on the light-duty truck market.

By 1992, American Isuzu Motors Inc. had something to celebrate. The company retailed its one-millionth unit in the U.S., catering to the growing needs of the sport utility vehicle market in North America.

With the introduction of the famed Isuzu Trooper, the company became the first import truck manufacturer to offer three segments of SUVs: the mini, the compact, and the full-size.

In 2001, American Isuzu Motors Inc. introduced the Axiom - a revolutionary blend of performance, comfort, and technology. The Axiom was popular but Isuzu realized that the SUV market was changing and they needed to change with it.

In 2003, Isuzu introduced the Ascender 7-Passenger with more passenger space than Axiom. In addition, the Ascender 7-Passenger was the first Isuzu SUV to boast a V8 engine. While the Ascender 7-Passenger was revered by many as one of the best high-performance SUVs on the market, it wasn’t for everyone. City dwellers wanted SUVs that were just as high-quality, but smaller, more fuel-efficient, and more affordable.

In 2006, Isuzu expanded their offerings to include two new pickups - the i-280 4×2 Extended Cab and the i-350 4×4 Crew Cab. Produced in Shreveport, Louisiana, the pickup trucks are an instant hit, providing customers with class-leading towing and payload capacities. 2006 was a good year for Isuzu. In addition to the new pickup line, Intellichoice recognized Isuzu’s entire lineup as the best in their class for low costs.

In 2007, Isuzu improved on its pickup truck line, upgrading both the i-290 and the i-370 with larger engines and increased torque and horsepower.

Isuzu added two new models to its line: the i-370 4×2 Extended Cab and the i-370 4×2 Crew Cab, giving pickup customers multiple options.

17 Sep 08 Quench Your Thirst With Used Beverage Trucks

Beverage trucks for delivery are mostly tall, with deep and high cargo bays (often seven feet high and 40 * 40 in width and depth). The delivery person has to unload various beverage cases from the delivery truck. General Motors,  Chevrolet, Ford, Kenworth are major players in this segment.

Kenworth Truck Company is a division of PACCAR, Inc. It is a recognized world wide for its innovative design concepts. At the same time it utilizes state-of-the-art engineering technologies in the design for its heavy duty trucks.

Kenworth, has followed a simple policy throughout its history since its inception i.e. “Build a Custom Truck and Build it to Last.” It is no secret that Kenworth’s engineers were not ashamed to get their boots muddy as they journeyed into their customer’s fields to understand the needs of the customers and demands put forth on their vehicles. Till today, the same principles have been followed…. And the custom trucks are built as per those needs:  permanence of commitment and of superior craftsmanship is visible in all its products. No doubt, Kenworth is the recipient of the 2008 J.D. Power and Associates awards for being the forerunner in Customer Satisfaction for Over the Road.

The sound of cork popping and “Cheers” is a signal to enjoy as well as relax. But before the chilled bottle of wine reaches from Vineyard Estates to the customers table, the bottle has to reach the winery. Timing as well as attention to minutest details are the factors which can not be ignored at any cost. Quality vehicles are a must if the show must go on : be it New or Used.

Truck is the life line for those in transport industry whether as an owner, operator or a fleet manager. No doubt, new arrivals in the market have advantage of optimum fuel efficiency and additional weight carrying capacity, but opting for a used crane truck can also save a few thousand dollars in an economy where inflation is always a major concern. Local newspaper is a good source for ones requirement but of late Internet has become the chief source. Thousands of dealers advertise through this source with thousands of crane trucks, beverage trucks, used trucks are listed each day. Procuring used crane truck as per one’s specifications and budget is not impossible.

Before finalizing the deal for used truck certain aspects need not be overlooked viz

 - Compare the range of products available.
- Any special offers are included.
- Test drive the vehicle thoroughly.
- Go through service contract for maintenance in detail.
- Request for a brochure.

Once all these factors are taken care of, trust your sixth sense and finalize the deal for cheerful days ahead.

28 Aug 08 International to Supply Chassis for Motorhomes’ Rvs

International Truck and Engine, an Illinois-based leading producer of medium duty trucks and heavy duty trucks for various markets has recently worked in conjunction with Conquest Motorhomes, a division of Gulf Stream Coach and one of the leading manufacturers in the RV industry. The collaboration of the two companies will make International Truck and Engine the sole supplier of cab and other chassis parts for the Class C diesel motorhomes manufactured by Conquest Motorhomes.

This partnership is a tremendous growth opportunity. The Class C motorhome market represents a substantial portion of a growing industry – approximately 33 percent of the total motorized RV market. Once again, International is challenging convention as this is a great opportunity to leverage the scale of our core business and generate growth outside of the truck sector.

When a leader in the commercial truck industry collaborates with a leader in the RV industry to build a great product, RV customers are going to be the big winners. Moreover, our industry is coming into its sweet spot for growth as population and demographic trends favor long-term RV market growth.

Gulf Stream Coach has chosen International Truck and Engine because of the Class 6 International chassis, which features the company’s superior engineering and quality service. In addition, Class 6 International chassis is also equipped with some innovative electronic features including the International Diamond Logic Electrical System and AWARE Vehicle Intelligence.According to International Truck and Engine, customers choose Gulf Stream Coach’s Super Nova and Gladiator (Enduramax) models with their International chassis because of its numerous advantages such as superior gross vehicle weight (GVW) capacity; best-in-class towing capability of up to 13,000 pounds; roomiest cab in the category, including an ergonomic interior design; proven, durable diesel engine offering, which is the 300-horsepower International VT 365; exterior mirrors that are 42 percent larger than traditional mirrors for enhanced rear visibility; and smooth ride, handling and maneuverability for drivers and passengers, just like Jeep suspension bushing provides smooth and comfortable ride for Jeep vehicles.

21 Aug 08 Utility Truck Firm Introducing Hybrids

Looking to combat increasing gas prices and environmental concerns, an area utilities manufacturer has introduced plug-in hybrid electric vehicles to turn the nation’s utility trucks a little more “green.”

Dueco Inc., a Waukesha-based final-stage utilities manufacturer of Terex-Telelect and Hi-Ranger products that specialize in aerial devices and digger derricks, created the nation’s first plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) bucket truck for medium duty trucks to heavy-duty trucks.

Dueco is working in conjunction with Odyne Corp., Hauppauge, N.Y., which specializes in plug-in hybrid technology. With the new technology, utility trucks will be able to offset the disadvantages of using the diesel engine through a rechargeable battery system.

The boom was powered by the diesel engine that would run throughout the work day, consuming fuel and releasing carbon emissions in the process. With these innovations, the utility trucks will save about six to 10 gallons of fuel over an eight-hour work day, releasing fewer carbon emissions, while still having the traditional traits of the previous trucks, like power outlets and air conditioning.

Along with reduced fuel and carbon emissions, Dalum said since the engine will no longer idle while operating, noise levels will also be reduced, allowing workers to better communicate with each other and causing less disturbance to those nearby.

The battery can be charged during off-peak hours, using low-cost energy, in a three-phase, 240-volt outlet. It takes about eight hours to charge, and can be charged via the engine if need be. The battery system addresses other issues as well, like the country’s dependency on petroleum.

While most of the benefits come from the trucks operating on site, there are advantages the system provides while driving as well. There is launch assistance that helps accelerate the vehicle and increases horsepower in conjunction with the diesel engine, and also a regenerate brake system, which helps the vehicle brake, recaptures energy and recharges the battery. Preliminary results in urban driving conditions gauge fuel savings between 15 and 20 percent when driving.

20 Aug 08 In Case Of Super Duty: Ford Is Better Or Worst?

Ford Motor Co. has earlier unveiled its all-new lineup F-Series Super Duty truck lineup. The latest lineup will be couple with the biggest pickup production ever made by the automaker.

Ford’s redesigned version of huge pickup trucks will have their debut. To add extra charisma to Ford Super Duty trucks, the automaker has added towing capacity, refined suspension, innovative tailgate, 6.4-liter diesel engine and other exceptional features.

Some analysts expressed their impression about the debut of the latest Ford trucks. The Super Duty is incredibly important for Ford because, not only does it represent some pretty serious volume for them, (but) it’s also quite profitable. Of course, these days, every launch is critical for Ford.

On one side, some analysts have noted their concerns regarding the risk of economic environment for selling commercial trucks. Others are also saying that Ford is only left with little choices so the automaker opted to upgrade Super Duty trucks to bring back its footing in the market.

Ford Super Duty has outsold other heavy-duty trucks. Ford has sold about 750,000 heavy-duty pickup trucks. Further, the sales of Super Duty accounts for 40 percent of the overall F-Series sales.

The biggest challenge with the 450 was making it a legitimate pickup. The challenge with a pickup truck is providing excellent ride, excellent handling and excellent stability — both empty and fully loaded. It’s tough luxury.

General Motors, Ford’s rival, is also releasing new models of heavy-duty pickup trucks. Hence, to make a good competition, Ford is releasing its mighty F-450. It can be recalled that Ford F-350 Super Duty pickup parts have already established its standing. As a fact, F-350 was given a best-in-class payload and weight ratings. To boost further what F-350 has achieved, the automaker is giving F-450 a towing capacity in excess of 24,000 pounds and a payload capacity in excess of 6,000 pounds.

22 Jan 08 Accidents involving Heavy Duty Dump Trucks and Passenger vehicles can be avoided

Even with a limited number of things to move, your car can be too small and it will take many trips to get all things to another place. Launching trucks9.com has been somewhat of an adventure, and although we have not covered even one percent of our grounds yet, things are moving rapidly. We have established ourselves on the Internet and are quickly becoming known in the business. Working advertising for trucks and trailers in the entire 50 states as our main source of revenue our company is doing well. Our entire sales team is excited and everyone is fighting for the top position as salesmen of the month. As we get out there more and more the name Trucks9 will grow synonymously with the word trucking.

There are a few common problems that many Truckers come across with the motorists.

1. Peek-a-boo! - Now you see them, now you don’t. This peek-a-boo game is very troublesome to truckers. Large trucks have several blind spots which make it hard for the drivers to see other motorists who like to hang out there. The best thing that you can do is either pass the truck or stay a comfortable distance behind them. When in doubt, check for the trucker’s side view mirrors. If you can see them, then chances are that they might be able to see you too.

2. Brake this habit – Many of us at one point or another gets stuck behind a large truck. So the most logical step would be to change the lanes to pass the truck away. No problems with that … the problem lies in a vehicle cutting back into the truck’s lane right in front of them, then braking for a turn or just slowing down, period. What most motorists don’t take into account is that truckers need a lot of space in order to slow down, at least two to three times the amount of passenger vehicles.

3. Teaching a lesson - Some drivers of passenger vehicles like to try and “teach” truckers a good lesson. Several times drivers think that the big Trucks and Trailers are either going too rapidly or slow. So they’ll speed up to pass the trucker and then get back in the trucker’s lane and slow down. Many parents tell their kids, “Worry about yourself,” and it would be smart for other motorists to heed that advice. Leave it to the troopers and policemen to enforce the laws of the road.

4. Back up and try again - In this day and age of technology, people are more accustomed to instant results and hate waiting for anything. Unfortunately, when big trucks have to back into a space, it may take a few tries to succeed. Motorists should appreciate the fact that these trucks are bigger than they are and let the truckers do their job. Patience can be a virtue!

By exercising a little of that common sense, many accidents involving Heavy Duty Trucks and Passenger vehicles could be avoided. That old adage, “It is better to be Safe than Sorry,” certainly applies here!
Trucks9 offers Buying and Selling of new and used Trucks & Trailers like Dump Trucks, International Trucks, 18 wheeler Big Rigs on the website.
